Epidemiology and Biostatistics

This course introduces students to the principles and methods of epidemiology, the study of the distribution and determinants of health-related states and events in populations. Students will learn about measures of disease frequency, study designs (including observational and experimental studies), measures of association, causation, and epidemiological surveillance. The course emphasizes the application of epidemiological methods to investigate disease outbreaks and identify risk factors. Through case studies and exercises, students will develop skills in epidemiological reasoning and data analysis. The course also addresses ethical considerations in epidemiological research. By the end of the course, students will be able to apply epidemiological methods to address public health problems.
